| South Coast Plaza is one of the premiere retail centers in the nation. Tatsumi and Partners, Inc. was retained by the Segerstrom Company to create a new pedestrian linkage between this flagship shopping complex to the new Orange County Performing Arts Center. The entire promenade was designed with a richness widely associated with these two urban spaces. Enhanced pavement materials were utilized throughout the pedestrian walkways, incorporating a signature pavement pattern using accent paver materials. To reinforce the people scale of the linkage, a delicate alley of honey locust trees line both sides of the walkway. The resulting promenade is a pleasant and efficient pedestrian circulation linkage between two major urban points within the context of an intense vehicular oriented area. |  |
