Tatsumi and Partners was the landscape architects for the renovation of over 4 miles of median islands for the City of Carson. Designs involved the use of drought-tolerant plant materials with an emphasis on minimal maintenance. Techniques used included a combination of conventional overhead spray/drip/misting irrigation systems as well as the careful balance of Xeriscape-quality plant materials. An overall sensitivity to surrounding communities and businesses during the preparation of the designs and accent/focal point areas was prevalent. All designs and plans, specifications and estimates were prepared using City of Carson standards and guidelines with the exception of areas within Caltrans right-of-ways which required Caltrans oversight.
